What is O.W.L?

"Nature provides for those who have the Seeing Eye. There is food, drink and the wherewithal for living anywhere, for those with Outdoor Wisdom and Learning."

My name is Christian Fox and I am the Founder of O.W.L.-Outdoor Wisdom & Learning.  I have been interested in living off the land for over thirty years.  In 1995, I qualified as a teacher and spent over ten years working in the classroom with a wide range of children in a wide variety of subjects.  For several years I also ran a survival club for small groups after school.  In 2008 I finished classroom teaching and decided to pursue a career delivering Outdoor Wisdom and Learning to all members of society.  By combining my teaching experience with my outdoors experience, I can provide you with hands-on sessions that are detailed, allow you to learn at your own pace and build your confidence.

By doing sessions in this way I aim to pass on my love of the outdoors!

Some of my personal and professional credentials are- Qualified Teacher (1995) BEd (Hons) 2:1, Forest School Leader L3, Survival Instructor L3, Enhanced CRB, ITC First Aid, Forest School Supplemental First Aid, Emergency First Aid in the Wilderness, Safe Guarding L1, MAPA, Food Hygiene L2, Manual Handling plus People, Health & Safety, Mini-bus, Tree-felling and British Sign Language.

Which ever route is chosen, expect your time to be interactive and hands-on, you will be provided with enough direct instruction to get you going and then (more importantly) you learn from yourselves and NATURE, with me then offering guidance as it is needed.

"Let us follow the trails into the unknown. Let us keep alive the spirit of adventure and of romance, and drink deep of the great cup that nature holds for our thirsting spirits and bodies." Ellsworth Jaeger, 1945.
